About this opportunity:

Ericsson is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, in person, Director, Government and Policy Advocacy position based in the companys Washington, D.C. office. This role will serve as advocate and advisor on Ericssons government relations team responsible for Federal legislative branch outreach with a focus on the intersection of U.S. technology policy and national security affairs, telecommunications, and trade. This position reports to the Vice President of Government Policy and Advocacy, and head of Federal Legislative Affairs, Americas and works closely with the global government and policy advocacy team on both day-to-day tasks and long-term goals and objectives. The Director must be a proactive, strategic, problem solver with strong government relations experience, able to leverage a wide network within the U.S. advocacy community and possess excellent judgment and interpersonal communications skills to interact effectively with internal senior executives and represent the company externally. In compliance with the Federal Lobbying Disclosure Act, the individual in this role will be required to register as a Lobbyist.

What you will do:

  • Lead advocacy efforts on telecommunications and technology policy with key stakeholders on Capitol Hill and U.S. government agencies.
  • Assist in the administration and oversight of the employee political action committee.
  • Represent Ericsson at engagements with trade associations, think tanks, political events, and coalitions to support company policy priorities.
  • Identify and respond to policy, legislation, and regulation impacting the company and industry.
  • Provide thought leadership and trusted advice to government, authorities, and industry organizations.
  • Protect and uplift the Ericsson brand reputation in the United States.

The skills you bring:

  • Familiarity with the intersection of U.S. technology policy and national security affairs. Expertise in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) policies, regulations, legislation, and industry; cyber; or trade.
  • Experience and agility in navigating and working with the U.S. Government (Executive or Legislative) on public policy issues.
  • Pro-active, creative, and strategic problem-solver with highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to comfortably interact with senior executives at corporate and political levels.
  • Proven experience in identifying and understanding key technology issues in legislative and regulatory proposals, the business implications, and the ability to synthesize policy and advocacy documents for internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, including sensitivity to compliance risks related to interactions with government officials.
  • A Bachelors degree is required; Law Degree or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of U.S. Government (Executive Branch or Congress), corporate, or trade association public policy experience.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Your Pay

The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidates combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

Base Pay Range: $175000 to $250,000

The salary range for this position is

Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the units objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Sales Incentive Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for sales incentives as a part of Ericssons Sales Incentive Plan. Actual payouts are based on performance of the business against the units objectives, individual performance, and the individual incentive target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Ericsson offers excellent health benefits including the choice of three medical plan options and a dental plan option that allow an employee to select the level of coverage that suits their needs. Employees will receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost that Ericsson pays toward the cost of their medical and dental premiums for themselves and eligible covered dependents.

Your Financial Security

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. The Ericsson US 401(k) Plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and Ericsson matches $1 for every $1 you put into the 401(k) Plan on the first 3% of your eligible pay, plus 50 cents on every $1 on the next 2% of eligible pay. When you contribute at least 5% of eligible pay, you are receiving Ericssons full matching contributions. Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Employees will also receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost of basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage, as well as short-term and long-term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericssons Stock Purchase Plan.

Your Time

Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employees start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
