Position Title: Epic HIM Applications Analyst II Purpose & Scope: The HIM Applications Analyst will serve as the primary contact in the development and functionality of the Epic system/application. This role provides consultation and coordinates design, build, testing, and go-live activities for the Inpatient EMR. The HIM Application Analyst must have an in-depth understanding of workflows, policies, procedures, patient care/clinical business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices for patient care. This position offers technical application support for complex Epic applications, including analysis, evaluation, troubleshooting, and high-level analysis of multiple or highly complex applications. The analyst translates business functionality into Epic system configurations and workflows, and prepares test scripts for application testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing. The role involves providing application and technical support, triage, troubleshooting, monitoring system data quality, efficiency, operation, and integrity, and escalating issues as needed. Responsibilities also include system analysis, design, development, documentation, configuration, testing, and training, along with standardization of the product workflow and version alignment. Under limited supervision, the analyst gathers and analyzes user needs, proposes solutions, and modifies applications accordingly. They support complex applications, create documentation, and develop specifications. The analyst acts as a liaison between end users and Epic implementation staff, communicating regularly with the installation team, reviewing software, analyzing business operations, and customizing the system to organizational needs. Additional duties include analyzing workflows, data collection, report specifications, and resolving technical issues, as well as developing internal procedures related to Epic applications. The analyst evaluates application dependencies to prevent negative impacts across systems. Education: Bachelor's degree in a health, science, or business field, or equivalent professional experience preferred. Experience: At least four years of industry-related experience in an IS setting within healthcare or health services, with a minimum of three years in applications analysis, programming, or related roles. Experience with HIM activities such as Chart Tracking, Release of Information, Deficiency Tracking, and Coding is preferred but not mandatory. Two or more years of successful experience working on Epic HIM modules from build to go-live is highly desirable. Strong understanding of hospital HIM operations, including compliance with Joint Commission guidelines, HIPAA, and workflows related to chart completion and information management.
