Job Description

We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Genetic Counselor to work within the Cancer Genetics Clinic. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Reviews medical records to determine possible genetic testing options. Captures accurate and detailed documentation of clinical encounters to document clinical care in accordance with Medicare and State requirements for service. Assists in the development/implementation of patient/family care plan. Coordinates clinical genetic testing that may be available for patients including informed consent, lab requisition forms, and letters of medical necessity. Communicates and documents test results to physicians and patients. Fields and responds to inquiries related to genetic testing/counseling services from health care professionals, patients, and the public. Attends and participates in educational activities. Seeks to apply learning from training and job assignments and accepts constructive criticism in order to improve performance. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with team members. Presents oneself with self-assurance and maintain a positive image. Ensures the maintenance of patient confidentiality. Performs miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree from a graduate program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. ABGC Board eligibility. Certification required within one year of employment. Preferred Qualifications One year genetic counseling experience, with experience in general pediatric or adult genetics clinic. ABGC Board Certification preferred at time of hire.
