JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Grant Writer
DEPARTMENT: Finance
STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: The Grant Writer works closely with our Chief of Finance
to research grant programs, write and or assist in the
preparation of funding applications for submission to
county, state, and federal agencies, private foundations,
and/or local businesses and to assist in the review of grant
funded contracts and ensure reporting obligations are
met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Research grant programs and priorities, including corporate, foundation and
governmental sources, identifying new prospective funders.
2. Develops and maintains relationships with funders including foundations,
government entities and/or businesses.
3. Provides timely advice and information on funding opportunities.
4. Edits draft applications for: 1) accuracy; 2) completeness; 3) clarity; and 4)
accordance with grant/loan requirements.
5. Tracks proposal submissions.
6. Assists in contract review and reporting requirements for funded grant
programs. Assists in development of reports and/or ensures that required reports
are completed and submitted by responsible project staff.
7. Assists in research needed for proposals.
8. Participates in relevant community coalitions.
9. Performs other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
Education and Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (at least four years of work experience with nonprofit
administration, grant writing, or fundraising)
- Two or more years of experience of grant writing experience;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills; • Ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Familiarity and experience working with national, federal, and governmental funders
