Job Title: Mainframe Batch Tester
Location: 100% Remote

Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Mainframe Batch Tester to lead test planning and execution for enhancements to the ACS batch system and its integration with a cloud-based collections platform. This role will also validate onboarding of new compliance-driven data sources. The tester will ensure end-to-end accuracy in posting logic, exception handling, data quality, and auditability across batch and cloud components.
Key ResponsibilitiesTest Planning & Design
Develop the Master Test Plan, test scenarios, detailed test cases, and data setup strategies for batch and API/file interfaces.
Establish traceability to requirements and risks (RTM).
Execution
Perform SIT, regression, reconciliation, and end-to-end testing across mainframe and cloud platforms.
Validate batch cycles (triggers, dependencies, restart/recovery) and downstream impacts (reports, statements, ledgers).
Test negative and edge cases, including partial payments, insufficient funds, reversals, duplicates, and invalid/late feeds.
Tooling & Evidence
Use SQL/DB2 and file compare utilities to verify results; capture logs/screens from Splunk/ELK and 3270 emulators.
Log and track defects in JIRA/ADO; collaborate with developers/analysts on root cause analysis and retesting.
Readiness & Delivery
Support UAT, sign-off, and cutover rehearsals; contribute to go/no-go decisions.
Provide test execution reports, defect metrics, and cutover validation support during hypercare.
5+ years of functional testing experience in financial/banking systems, with direct mainframe batch exposure.
Strong SQL and data validation expertise; experience with file feeds and API testing.
Ability to interpret COBOL/JCL results, job logs, and abend codes at a tester s depth.
Strong skills in documentation, defect triage, and stakeholder communication.
Background in collections, loan servicing, or payments.
Experience with test tools such as Postman/ReadyAPI, qTest/Zephyr, Jenkins pipelines.
Basic scripting ability (Python, PowerShell) for automation and data setup.
