Position Overview:
We are currently seeking skilled and dependable Shipyard Electricians to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems aboard marine vessels under construction, repair, or retrofit. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in shipyard or marine environments and be well-versed in U.S. Coast Guard and ABS standards.
Responsibilities:
Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures.
Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to determine wiring layouts.
Work with AC/DC systems, switchgear, panels, and control circuits.
Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable maritime regulations and safety protocols.
Collaborate with other trades (e.g., pipefitters, welders) to complete multi-disciplinary projects.
Perform inspections, conduct continuity and voltage tests, and prepare reports.
Requirements:
3–5 years of experience as a marine or shipyard electrician.
Familiarity with maritime electrical codes and classification society requirements (ABS, USCG, etc.).
Ability to work in confined spaces and onboard active construction or repair vessels.
Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and PPE usage.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PLC systems, control panels, and automation.
Knowledge of high- and low-voltage systems.
Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent is a plus.
