The Medical Assistant Certified is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant contributes to the completion of the patient’s chief complaint (including, but not limited, to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Essential Job Functions include understanding and adhering to legal responsibilities, identifying significant changes in patient condition, troubleshooting and escalating problems, demonstrating standards of excellence in care, maintaining clinical and administrative skills, preparing patients for physician examination, traveling to other facilities as needed, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, assisting with virtual health visits, documenting in electronic medical records, managing in basket messages, performing front desk workflows, following up on orders and appointments, and other duties such as ordering supplies and tracking referrals. Licensing/Certification requires active Medical Assisting certification from recognized organizations and BLS Basic Life Support. Education requires High School/GED and preferably completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program. Work Experience preferred includes completion of externship or clinical lab training and 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience. Skills required include recording medical history, interviewing patients, preparing and administering medications, collecting specimens, providing prescription information, explaining treatment procedures, cleaning instruments, performing lab tests, general office duties, completing competency checklists, strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, medical terminology knowledge, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and use of standard office equipment.
