Job Description

Nurse Practitioner - Orthopedic & Surgery Clinic

Job summary:

Examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with the Surgeon. Obtains patient history and formulates a list of differentials to assess and diagnose the patient and determines next steps. Orders diagnostic tests as indicated, interpret results and initiate treatment. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Follows up with patients to ensure they improve and the appropriate treatment plan is in place. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to the Clinic Director.

Perform physical exams to assess patient condition and diagnose problem.
Evaluate patient medical history and identify risks that might make surgery risky.
Provide preoperative instructions to patients regarding what they should do before their operation.
Prescribe medication or other treatments as needed
Discuss surgical risks with patients and families so they are aware of possible complications.
Review patients records and reports from referring provider (s).
Coordinating patient care with other members of the healthcare team.
Supervising patient's recovery from surgery by providing instruction on how to care for themselves at home following surgery.

Qualifications:

Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP).
Licensed for Advance Practice in the State of Arkansas.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
