The Sports Medicine Physician is responsible for providing specialized musculoskeletal and non-operative orthopedic care to a diverse population—from student athletes / recreational athletes to active adult orthopedic patients in an office environment. Works according to Maine State Rules and Regulations following established Policies and Procedures as required and within established scope of practice. Must be a friendly, energetic and team-oriented person looking for a long-term commitment. Proficient use of an EMR system, excellent communications skills. The ideal candidate must be able to provide high quality care to orthopedic patients and be independent to make decisions. Essential Duties include providing specialized musculoskeletal and non-operative orthopedic care, collaborating with orthopedic physicians, physical therapy, and other team members, shared coverage for Bates College Sports Med program including evaluation and treatment of athletes and game coverage, weekly schedule with 3.5 full clinical days in orthopedics, 1/2 day at Bates College Health Services & dedicated administrative time, mentorship for residents, contributing to best practices in sports medicine, leading or participating in quality improvement initiatives, providing health education and counseling, recovering from service difficulties, maintaining a professional environment, and demonstrating commitment to service with consistent attendance and punctuality. Education and Experience requirements include current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS, current ACLS Certification preferred, current PALS Certification preferred if caring for Pediatric patients, current DEA with no restriction, and strong computer skills including EMR/EHR. Compensation is market-competitive and based on volume and quality measures with opportunities to increase income based on quality outcomes and patient satisfaction. The position is based at Central Maine Medical Center, a 250 bed tertiary care facility serving central and western Maine, with additional context about the community and benefits provided by Central Maine Healthcare.
