Packaging Engineer – Blow Mold Bottle & Wipe Packaging

Location: Allegan, MI (Hybrid – 3 days onsite/week)

Job Type: Contract (6–12 months, with potential for extension or conversion based on performance and business needs)

Pay Rate: $40.00 – $48.00/hour (W2, based on experience)

About the Opportunity:

Kelly Engineering is partnering with a leading consumer health and personal care manufacturer to support the hiring of a Packaging Engineer focused on new product development. This role will play a key part in launching rigid blow-molded bottles and flexible pouch packaging used in liquid and wipe-based products.

This is a hands-on, hybrid role that involves close collaboration with manufacturing, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams. It’s ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and has experience taking packaging from concept to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead packaging development for blow-molded rigid bottles , including collaboration with suppliers through full development lifecycle
• Support flexible packaging efforts, such as wipes pouches , including material compatibility checks
• Conduct and support line trials for packaging implementation on the production floor
• Write and execute IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and validation activities, including ASTM/ISTA testing
• Create and maintain packaging specifications and related documentation
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Marketing, R&D, and Project Management
• Coordinate directly with external packaging suppliers and manufacturing teams

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Packaging, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of hands on experience in packaging engineering
• Must have experience with blow-molded rigid plastic bottles
• Strong understanding of packaging validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), leak/dimensional testing , and ASTM/ISTA test methods
• Familiarity with flexible packaging and polymer compatibility preferred
• Excellent communication skills, especially when working with external vendors and internal teams
• Comfortable in both documentation and hands-on production setting
