Coordinates and delivers both interpretation (oral) and translation (written) services for individuals with limited English proficiency across all Intermountain Health facilities and virtual services. This position will serve Primary Children's Hospital Behavioral Health, located at the new Taylorsville Hospital. Work schedule is Monday-Friday from 9:00-17:30. Responsibilities include interpreting medical and general information accurately in consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation modes for patients, families, and staff; acting as a cultural mediator; adhering to ethical and legal standards including HIPAA and civil rights laws; managing time productively; using computer and electronic tools for research, data entry, and communication; translating written materials accurately and timely. Required skills include professional ethics, communication, basic computer skills, teamwork, time management, critical thinking, medical terminology, cultural communications, and language interpretation and translation. Qualifications include successful pre-hire skills assessment, professional proficiency in both languages, ability to perform various interpretation modes with high accuracy, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritization and multitasking skills, interpersonal communication skills, and completion of a 40-hour Professional Medical Interpreter course or equivalent qualifications. Preferred qualifications include two years of healthcare interpreting experience, bachelor's degree in related fields, national or state certification, and knowledge of EPIC. Physical requirements include ability to see, read, communicate verbally, manual dexterity, and for some roles, driving. The position is full-time with 40 scheduled weekly hours.
