Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring strong Med/Tele acute care experience and NC or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Position is in a 20-bed adult Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital
• Patient population includes adults with diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, respiratory illnesses, GI infections, and behavioral health issues
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 for telemetry patients and 1:5-6 for Med/Surg, with higher ratios possible during surge staffing
• Night shift position from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Weekend rotation every other weekend with 75% holiday coverage required
• Floating may occur within Region 1, including several area hospitals, based on regional needs and within scope of practice
• EMR system used is Epic
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, and virtual cart for rounding
• Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized
• Duties include caring for medically complex adults, managing telemetry, and administering critical infusions
• Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary, free-floating charge nurse, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation plus 2 days of departmental training
• Navy scrubs required for this assignment
• Free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers considered if they have strong acute Med/Tele RN experience
• Up to 6 days of time off may be approved, with exclusions for holidays and certain conditions for meeting contracted hours

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active NC or compact state RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with trach care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, wound care, feeding tubes, and NGT placement strongly preferred
• Ability to manage common drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Octreotide
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the primary work location
